Do I need a referral to see Dr Wallace?
No referral is required for purely Cosmetic Surgery but it is still useful to keep your GP informed

Do I need a new referral each time I see Dr Wallace?
No. Your General Practitioner’s referral is usually valid for 12 months for the same problem. A new or different problem requires a new referral.
A referral from another Specialist is only valid for 3 months.

How much does it cost to consult Dr Wallace?
Present fees are $240 for a referred medical problem consultation with $72.75 back from Medicare. A follow-up consultation is $140.00 with $36.55 back from Medicare,
The fees quoted here are valid until 1st November 2017.

How much does it cost to ask about cosmetic procedures?
A consultation for Cosmetic Rhinoplasty surgery can be done without a medical referral. This cosmetic consultation is $176 including GST with no Medicare rebate. This is an extended consultation and includes the taking of digital images to plan the surgical changes.
A second pre-op consultation is $66 including GST. Dr Wallace is happy to return consultation fees as a discount on any subsequent surgery fees. After surgery follow-up appointments (e.g. 12 months post-op photos) are fully rebatable.

If I need an operation in hospital, will my insurance cover all the costs?
No. Operations for medical problems will be largely covered but there will be some ‘Gap’ that will be accurately quoted for you prior to surgery.
Cosmetic operations receive no cover from insurance.

Does Dr Wallace see children?
Yes. Dr Wallace has worked for 10 years at Princess Margaret Hospital for Children and continues to include his practice with children.
All children’s operations are done with an anaesthetist having similar Paediatric experience.
